Utility Providers often service specific areas only. It is always a good idea to call your local utility and confirm they service your address prior to closing on a new property. It is also important to remember that you may not always have a choice in utility providers. You may only have one option when it comes to Water and Electric providers, while telephone, cable, internet, propane gas, and trash pickup may offer different options for you to shop around. Below are a list of common utility providers in Horry County, and their contact information. Your Duncan Group Properties Agent can also help you find out who your utility provider options are.
Water & Sewer

Some areas of rural Horry County do not have water and sewer, but instead rely on well and septic systems. It is important to know which you will have before buying a new home. Cable/Internet/Home Phone providers are probably the utility that you have the most choice in. Generally, you have at least two options in most areas. These two are available in Horry County, but Horry Telephone Cooperative is probably the most popular since they are the local based provider with local customer service.

The Horry County Solid Waste Authority (SWA) has convenience centers all around the county that you can drop your waste off at if you do not have trash pickup. If you live in the city limits of most cities in Horry County, you will most likely have trash pickup available and often included as a “sanitation fee” on your water bill. If you don’t live in the city, your Home Owners Association may provide trash pickup. If none of those apply, here are a few companies you can contact to request curbside trash pickup.
Gas (Propane or Natural Gas)
Natural gas has become very popular in Horry County. Many new communities are being built with natural gas utilities available. However, even if natural gas is not available, you can still get on-site propane.
