Things to Do to Maximize Sales Price and Minimize Time on the Market

When you’re ready to sell your home, one of the first things you need to do is acknowledge that your deco r style may not be neutral enough to appeal to many buyers. Or the hard truth is, your decor could be outdated and appeal to very few buyers. It’s a hard thing to accept. But once you do accept it and commit to making the necessary changes, you’ll sell quicker and for a higher price.
Buyers have been watching HGTV and we all know that most of the homes you see there are model home perfect. We don’t live in model homes, but when we want to sell, we need to make it look like we do. Here are 4 things to do that will make buyers have your home at the top of their list of contenders.
  •  Update your bedding. Prints are very taste specific. Use solid neutral colors and add pillows or a throw for a pop of color.



  • Fake plants just need to go unless you just have a few. I see them often lined up on top of cabinets and they just don’t add to the feeling of openness that buyers are looking for in a home. A few living plants is not a problem at all.


  • Your knickknacks might mean something to you. But to a buyer, they are clutter and make it hard for them to envision themselves in the space. If you can’t go ahead and pack all of them, at least pack the bulk of them. Buyers want to see a decluttered living space.


  • Bathroom and kitchen clutter can really detract from your home. Your counters need to be mostly cleared. Store things in baskets and put them away. Nobody needs to see your deodorant or stack of unopened mail.
